I'm just here to talk a little Kane & Lynch 2 and already you are looking at me like i've been tied naked to a chair..
Ok so i'm gonna be the guy who tries to convince you for the next 2 minutes that Kane & Lynch 2 is an interesting game. Some one has gotta do it, right?
The important thing to remember about this game is the fact that here are two factors that carry it. And guess what? It ain't Gameplay and story. Oddly enough it is Attitude and Style.
I'm sure you cannot browse the web or even escape reality by watching tv without seeing that the main selling point of this game is the unique graphical style. The woozy camera man following two old, balding middle aged men through the streets of shanghai - coupled with distortion, color seperation lens flare and in some extreme cases, deliberate slowdown - is indeed a unique formula. A forumla to be admired. The visual effects are stunning and remain stunning throughout the entire game, giving it a disgustingly beautiful look. You literally wanna have a shower within the first 5 minutes - seriously. Some might argue that this as a selling point is stupid - and that it is nothing more than an average cover based shooter dressed up in cool looking effects. A stupid selling point i hear you say? Well there are far more poplar games out there with lesser selling points which still sell way more copies. Think about it
As for attitude. These guys are a couple of dis-likable bastards, i mean really. Scum bags. Yet as you play you want them to succeed. You want Kane to get on with life and protect his daughter and you want Lynch to find peace. BUT WHY?! They are jerks! Maybe it is because they arn't perfect and a direct reflection of ourselves. Who the hell knows. All i know is the main character is a bald man.....with long hair (!?) running about with a tanktop/suit jacket combo, wearing godamn sunglasses while sporting a shotgun. THATS attitude. So is tackling themes other games wouldnt touch with a long rod attached to a gravity gun - such as torture and rape. Dirty work, but someones gotta do it right?? Can't just beat around the bush - this stuff happens
It is such an easy game to dismiss - i mean really. The story is the shortest i've played in a LONG time. Around 5 hours i'd say. But again.....I like that! It is intended to be a short game. 2 Short shitty days in these guys lives then BOOM! end! The whole game is like a quick punch to the face while being slightly drunk. For the majority or people reading this, YES. You are right, shit game, looks shit yada yada yada. But for the people here who don't mind going against the mainstream and experiencing something new. This is right up your dirty ally
