Rock Band 1.5

It isn’t very often in the world of media that a sequel to an existing title is better than the original. There are many examples of this, such as “Perfect Dark: Zero,” “The Matrix: Reloaded,” and countless other film and game releases. I’m here to tell you that Rock Band 2 does not fall into this category, but neither does it fall into the category of complete improvement over its predecessor (Call of Duty 4 comes to mind). If you don’t know about what “Rock Band” is by now, then you’ve probably been living under a rock, so I won’t go into what the premise of the game is about. What I will talk about, however, is the outstanding soundtrack. This soundtrack is outstanding, improving in almost every aspect over the original. I’m particularly happy about the inclusion of a two letter, one slash, two letter band in this iteration (read: AC/DC.) The graphics haven’t improved much, but the amount of character customization definitely has. Otherwise, there isn’t very much else new about “Rock Band 2,” and that’s my major complaint: this game feels like it’s just “Rock Band” with a bunch of added content. I would definitely like to see some sort of major change or innovation in the next iteration in the series, but for now, I’m completely happy with “Rock Band 2.”
