Now for something completely different, Off-Road Velociraptor Safari. Off-Road Velociraptor Safari has a premise that is fairly easy to understand, you control a monocle and pith helmet wearing velociraptor driving a 4x4 and the aim of the game is to try and get the high score by performing stunts, damaging the jeep during collisions, collecting orbs, and killing the velociraptor’s which run around the area by hitting them with your car or with a chain and ball attached to the rear in order to harvest them for their taco meats for the future. No, wait, that’s my LSD kicking in. Give me a minute.
The game controls simple enough, with the arrow or WASD keys being used for driving around, with the B button being used for quick boosts. The Spacebar deploys the chain and spiky ball that can be used to clothesline raptors or to drag their limp bodies around the open level to gain points, though doing stunts and taking down other dinosaurs. Another hit of the Spacebar and the ball and chain fall off your car. The ball and chains are infinite, so need to worry about it.
Or you could just put them into the teleporter. Destroying your vehicle and doing stuns without he dinosaurs can also be done to achieve points, but where's the fun in that? The controls are a little loose, but suit the game and don't distract from your enjoyment. If you would like a little extra with the game, you can register or log into the website, you can also get your score onto the leaderboards and unlock achievements to show how much of a man you are.
Graphically it's nothing too fancy and is entirely appropriate to what the game is. There are a few minor squabble, such as a slightly annoying camera, lack of music and slow-mo that you can't toggle on and off, but is easily ignorable. One complaint against the game that distracts from it is how it runs on mid- to low-range machines. The ability to scale the graphics would have been a nice addition for users with older machines. The game also has a slightly longer than necessary load time, but after the initial download, most users probably would not complain about this.
This game is easy to jump into and is a fun waste of time for a lunch break, a small break from another game your trying to complete or a couple of hours of distraction.
