For any of you that enjoyed a jail-broken iPhone, you probably are already familiar with this title. Released many months ago in beta form, Trism has been delighting iPhone hack- I mean users for a long time. Like most iPhone "homebrew" apps, Trism was free for those with a jail-broken phone.
It seems that for the most part, games that were free, but now charge money aren't going over so well on the iTunes store. Trism is the exception. At only $5, it's literally a bargain compared to some of the other garbage that can be found on the iTunes Store (iTS). There are many reviews stating that people are actually willing to pay even more than offered for this title, and personally I don't blame them.
Trism is simple-yet addicting puzzle game using stacked triangles. The goal of the game is to touch and drag the stacks to match up 3 triangles of the same color. When this happens, they disappear, and the rest of the triangles move down to fill in the gap. Seems kinda bland? Here's where the twist comes in. Depending on which way you are tilting your phone, the triangle rows will slide down in different directions. This quickly becomes a huge part of the game, as sometimes getting the right direction means advancing or failing.
The game features several secret triangles that you can get with certain combinations of triangles. For instance, a 5-triangle match will give you a rainbow brick. This brick will match with 2 other triangles of the same color, and will also fill in all the "holes" in the level (left by clearing triangles) with triangles of that color. There are also what I call fettering (Hey, look it up!) triangles to add some pressure to the mix. The standard bomb block that explodes after several moves, along with a "screwed block" (lol) that keeps you from moving the row it's in.
As if the game wasn't good enough, there are 3 total modes of play, that very much remind me of Bejeweled. Infinism features infinite play until a bomb blows up. Terminism is a race against the clock. Syllogism is an extremely challenging and addicting puzzle games using only the iPhone's accelorometer to slide around triangles to complete puzzles.
Bundle all that with a deep and helpful tutorial and online scoreboards, and you've got yourself a game with practically infinite replay value! An absolute must-buy if you get one game on the iPhone. Now if I can only get past level 27 in Syllogism...
