Kane & Lynch: Dead Men is a third-person shooter by IO Interactive, considered to be the spiritual successor to IO's previous game Freedom Fighters.
The story starts with the two main characters of the game, Kane & Lynch, heading to death row.
However, a group called The7 bails them out because apparently Kane owes them a lot of money.
Lynch is recruited to keep an eye on Kane and help him out. Expect a lot of twists and turns along the way.
The shooting is generally satisfying enough, but it gets rather boring after a while.
This is quite impressive in bad way actually, the game's length is only about 5 hours.
The game makes use of a cover system, but you don't press a button to get into cover, you kind of just run up to a wall. This works generally well, but you might encounter some problems sometime.
I didn't see anything too frustrating as some people say, but then again I wasn't playing on Morphine difficulty.
You are also supposed to manage a squad, but this is probably the game's biggest downfall.
Managing your squad is simply not intuitive and the AI of your squad and enemies is quite stupid.
The music is made by Jesper Kyd once again, but don't expect anything as memorable as the music in the Hitman games. Speaking of Hitman, Kane & Lynch is optimized better than Blood Money, so if you couldn't play that on your computer, you can still give this one a try with the demo. It might work.
The sound effects are good enough, the game's name is not Call of Duty.
In the end, if you're looking for a game to play for the weekend from the bargain bin, by all means pick it up.
You won't be missing too much if you don't play it though.
