If you've enjoyed the first Alien film and you like survival horror this is a no brainer. The sound design and Alien AI really make it. The sound design is probably the best I've experienced in any game ever. The way the Alien bends the metal of the ventilation shafts overhead as it stalks you, the different growls it makes that tell you how close it is to your scent, and about a million other small audio clues are…
This game blew me away in terms of atmosphere and tension. More than any subsequent Alien movie it captures the paranoia and dread of lurking around a ship like the Nostromo. The Alien AI is super smart and difficult, but fair. You'll never have the same encounter outside of a few scripted moments. It is a very long game, but there's very little backtracking. Despite the length, I felt the pacing was great.
