In the world of the Division 2 you continue the story of.... well I suppose it doesn't matter as the story is by far the weakest part of this fantastic Vidya Game. In the Division 2, content is king, and the staggering amount of it is enough to scratch the itch of any fan of the Ubisoft box checking structure of its open-world games. It also takes it a whole step further, offering the most satisfying progression in a loot shooter to date, by allowing you to customize and set up loadouts that best match your play style, while also including weapons that were extremely approachable if the player was ever off put by any other weapon type, i.e. marksman rifles!
After spending a considerable amount of time this year on the Division 2, I would say it was also the best value this year. I bought it on sale for $20 thinking if I didn't like it, I'd only be out $20. Boy am I glad I was wrong. The story missions themselves are the highlights here, but even side content offers challenging new environments to conquer and new boxes to check. Control Points in the Division 2 are such a satisfying task to complete and you even get to recapture some of D.C.'s most iconic monuments. In addition, there are a myriad of varying side missions that help you to progress straight into the endgame content.
Speaking of endgame, The Division 2 offers a completely new game as part of the endgame. Once you recapture all of the three main faction's strongholds, you are introduced to a new faction, the Black Tusk, who essentially take over all the strongholds, control points and even the main missions from the main game. These invaded missions offer new enemy types, more challenging elite and named opponents and the chance to make your numbers go up. And from here on out, its all about making those numbers go up baybee.
Massive Entertainment also released new content not too long ago in Episode 1 - D.C. Outskirts: Expeditions. This update brought armor sets which grant special buffs if you are wearing every piece of the set, two new missions where you chase after the Black Tusk leaders, and one fantastic masterpiece of a mission where you raid the Manning National Zoo. The hook here is that is in a zoo where you encounter an enemy faction and work to bring down one of their leaders. This mission has many impressive Easter Eggs and is quite an emotional insight into the Faction's leaders motives. It is quite predictable, but still a great playground for having mini wars in. In addition to these missions, it introduced an "Expedition" to Kenly College, where you search for a lost group of survivors to recover their gear. The expedition is broken up into 3 somewhat separate missions where players must solve environment puzzles to progress and complete the expedition. For all you trouble, you are rewarded with and awesome Rifle called the Diamond back, which is basically a rifle with a live snake on it!
The Division 2 offers a robust suite of content and is the most approachable loot shooter released to date. Don't hesitate on picking this one up!
