Umurangi Generation is a photography game.

Umurangi is a Maori word that emerged in Aoteroa and Australia meaning "Red Sky", coined after the cataclysmic fires of the early '20s. The game sees you take on the role of a courier, who earns money for photo bounties, while you deliver packages. The packages are not important. I'm not even sure the money is important. What is important is hanging out with your buds in each level (Evangelion fans might recognise some character types), exploring how to use your camera and getting new lenses to play with, and not taking photos of the blue jellyfish in the levels.

Also the UN is there and they are protecting you from kaiju attacks. Mostly. There's probably also some abuses the soldiers are enacting but mostly they're scenery for you to use in photos.

This is one of the most affecting games I've ever played, and probably the greatest game made about and to help process the ongoing climate crises that the capitalist/pedophile oligarchic class is putting the planet through.
