Half-Life 2 300 Word Review

What can I say about Half-Life 2 that hasn’t been said already? Its a masterpiece and was the first PC game I ever played. I saw so much hype about this game in 2004 that for my 12th birthday convinced my parents to get me a gaming PC so I could play it. I loved it instantly. The characters, the world, the weapons. It all came together in a way that I had never experienced before. I play this game to completion at least once every 3 years and will randomly boot it up every few months, just because I want to get that feeling again. Half-Life 2 is a top ten game for me. It has also been talked about a thousand times over by other, more qualified, people. So, how do I review it in 300 words or fewer? Well, I’m not going to.

Here is all I have to say: Try Half-Life 2. You can get it for $10 on its own or for $20 with its two follow-up episodes (which are also fantastic) Portal (a masterpiece in its own right), and Team Fortress 2. It often goes on sale on steam for $5 or less. It will play on pretty much any computer made in the last 10 years. It’s available on Windows, Mac, Linux, and the Orange Box is backward compatible on Xbox consoles. It doesn’t play on M1 macs right now but otherwise, you should be able to find a way to play it. Just play it. It’s a little dated but I think it still feels pretty good and looks pretty good. And Ravenholm level still rules all these years later. It is revered for a reason so all I can say is...

Try it.
