You should try massive chalice if you're a XCOM fan or strategic/tactical RPG fan. I played through and beat the game on normal difficultly. I only made use of Hunters & Alchemists and their derivative class of warriors, completely sidestepping the caberjack class as I did not need it to effectively fight the Cadence over the course of the game.
While Massive Chalice starts off challenging, it does not scale as your family bloodlines and hero pool gets better. I found myself being careless in the last half of the game since my troops became so overpowered compared to what the game was willing to throw at me.
A big selling point of this game was the family bloodlines and stories that you'll care about your warriors. So in XCOM you develop this team which each member is vitally critical for you to deal with the missions at hand. A ton of rage quit / restarts occur. In Massive Chalice, you know the units you have are going to die, and be replaced by new ones of your bloodlines descent. You only get 4-5 battles with a particular unit before it passes away from old age and needs to be replaced. In this, the vitalness of the units becomes dampened and I found myself treating them more like fodder, and not really caring if I screw up in battle.
For me it was worth getting through the experience but not challenging enough and I found myself just wanting to complete it all by the end, that really savoring the ride.
TL;DR: MC is a tactical turn based strategy game that lacks the depth and challenge to make it a must play
