Come on guys, its a Rockstar game. Yes, Red Dead Redemption is from the makers of the great GTA IV so it must be awesome right? Right!
Red Dead Redemption is a game that brings the genre of the good ol' western back to life and it does it perfectly. Westerns aren't normally that great but Red Dead is stunning.
Your a character called John Marston who is a cowboy out to kill. To kill two main targets: Javier Escuela and Bill Williamson. John has a family back home on the farm, a wife named Abigail and a son called Jack. Huuh typical western names eh? What are they like?
You'll find yourself playing through a story structured much like GTA's. Go to a mission, do the mission, go to another mission although instead of driving around you'll be riding horses. Oh yeah, the transport is great too: Horses, Stagecoach, Donkeys if you can find one. I found one, i think i deserve a medal.
There is a tiny low in the game: Cutscenes. Sometimes they can be boring, your just talking to some gay called Landon for about 3 minutes and the next thing you know someones flicking your ear trying to wake you up and remind you that for completing this bad boy you get 100G. Although some cutscenes aren't great the storyline is fantastic. And very emotional at the end too.
The gameplay is the best part of the game though. The shooting is very different to that of GTA's it still locks on but the sight is much smaller. Riding on horses is also great fun and the controls are very impressive.
Another great factor of the game: Visuals. This game is beautiful, you could just be walking around the countryside staring at the stunning western scenery while saliva dribbles out of your mouth. That's how good looking it is.
So overall Red Dead Redemption is a fantastic game (although maybe not as good as GTA IV). I'd recommend this to any shooting fan. But wait... I have an announcement to make. This game is age rated as an 18, so little kiddies who haven't learnt to walk yet shouldn't be playing it....... But you probably are anyway.
