To start it off, this game is fantastic. As stated in the title, this game delivers, to me personally, everything I could possibly expect or want from a third person shooter. If you haven't picked up this game GO GET IT.
Gameplay:
The gameplay for this game consists of three major parts. One part is, of course, shooting. There is an automatic targeting system that helps player target others for an easier shot if need be. Another part is Dead Eye. Now I know some people out there may say that it is the same as shooting, but to me, it is an entirely different thing. In Dead Eye, time slows down (in the single player) and the player can target other enemies indicated by red cross-hairs on the designated enemies body. When the player presses the shoot button, John (the character you play) will shoot every cross-hair on the enemies body. With Dead Eye though, there is a meter that will decrease for however much time spent in it. If you spend too much time in Dead Eye, your meter will drain, and you will have to fend for yourself without it. The last part of gameplay is the cover. There is a cover system in place within the game that allows players to get to cover and stick to it. The cover system though, can be somewhat difficult to get a handle on. For instance, I was playing multiplayer, and while trying to run and get to cover while being shot at, my character got onto the wrong side of cover, and I was killed. This can be a little frustrating, but it doesn't significantly decrease the enjoyability of the gameplay.
Story:
Don't worry, I won't spoil anything. I am going to give a brief overview of the entire story, so if you don't want to read any backstory, stop reading this story section. You play as John Marston, a former outlaw who is trying to go straight from a life of crime since he was shot and left for dead by his "friends". No matter how hard he tries, though, John Marston cannot seem to escape from his former life. Along the story, you will meet plenty of fantastic characters, and the story is focused and you rarely have to do any ambiguous or frustrating side quests that lead to you getting mad at the game and turning it off. I honestly could not put down the controller for a long while as I played this game, and if I ever died I never felt cheated or felt it was the game's fault. The story is well paced and is a fantastic tale throughout the entire game.
Multiplayer: This is another fantastic front Rockstar manages to conquer. In multiplayer, there are many things that are notable and need to be mentioned. One is a mode called Free Roam. In this mode, you can "posse up" with friends and simply roam around the entire Red Dead Redemption world. This is the entire single player campaign area all put into a multiplayer lobby that you can raid gang hideouts in, hunt, and just screw around with your friends. There are also your run of the mill game types such as deathmatch, free for all, and capture the flag. However, that isn't all that multiplayer has to offer. There is also a large amount of character customization. As you level up, you unlock new weapons for free roam, as well as unique character skins, horses, and titles that you can apply to your character. This allows for a whole new level of depth in multiplayer.
Now that I have addressed the three big components of any game, I simply have this to say: go pick this game up. The multiplayer, story, and gameplay are all incredibly well done and Rockstar obviously put some hard work and effort into this game.
