This game was amazing. It was nothing like what I've ever played before and hey, what do you know, it was put out by Rockstar Games. I've never really been a fan of their games, the gangster thing just doesn't appeal. I mean, it's been done a million times. But a decent western game, now there's something new. 
 
I played on the 360 and the controls were great. Similar to driving a car, you can ride a horse, drive a carriage or even snag a stagecoach if you're so daring. Shooting was also the same, right trigger, and left to pull out your gun. I really liked the wheel of weapons and how you could change each gun or throwing device by using the D-pad. 
 

As far as story, Red Dead Redemption could not have supplied anything better. Multiple characters, different paths and lots of controversy provided a solid plot for John's character. If you know nothing about this game know this: John is an ex-gang member (as gang as they got in the ol' west) who is trying to get a pardon from the government by killing members of said gang including Bill Williamson, who is the main target throughout the game. He has a family, a wife and son, and he hopes to become a rancher. Oh, and he's one badass dude.  
 
I have never been one to complete side missions after the main story was done, but I find myself going back from time to time to finish off a side story here or a challenge there. Even the achievements are desirable, I've never been much for caring about them, I usually only get the ones included in the story, but as far as RDR goes... It's irresistible.  
  

I guarantee that even if you don't enjoy the story that lets you herd cattle, round up horses, shoot bears, save damsels, rebel against the mexican army, help a grave digger, save a barn from burning and so much more, you'll like the feeling of racing a horse and gaining 20 whole dollars. Believe you me, it's a wild ride. And I won't be putting the controller down for this one anytime soon.
