Family pirate party, isn't the party game you want.

Pros: A little fun as a multiplayer game at first.

Contras: Spanish translation sucks really badly (even most people won't notice). Completely based on luck. AI sucks. There's not an achievement system, or anything to keep you playing.

When I first saw the trailer for this game, it looked pretty fun. I mean, a Mario Party-style kind of game but with a pirate theme sounded pretty awesome to me. I was wrong. I didn't like this game because of many aspects. First of all, the game is completely based on luck. To win, you need to earn money and the player with the most money at the end wins. To earn money, you land on islands and they become yours. If someone lands on your island, they pay you a random amount of money. It works just like Monopoly in that way, except you don't have to buy the islands to be yours, you land of them and instead of losing money, you ean money for that. You also earn money by passing through the start space and by minigames.

There are only three minigames which don't change the results of the game much. And one of the minigames it's about hitting a meteor with a baseball bat. I mean, that doesn't even have anything to do with pirates! Just what were they thinking? The other two minigames are about killing an octopus with a sword and shooting at cannonballs with your gun. But again, minigames don't change the experience a lot. First of all because you only earn some money from them, and it's completely random if you play them or not. To play them, you have to land on a minigame space, which may not happen. If you don't land, well you don't play any minigames and don't earn much money, so again, the game's based on luck because one player could land on the minigame space 5 times and another one could land on it only once. You can also use some cards that work like Mario Party items, but again, it's random whether you get them or not, so they don't change the fact that the game is completely based on luck.

Anyway, there are four different characters, Billy, Sarah, Mommy, and Daddy. They are all dressed like pirates, and if you want another costume, you can buy a swimsuit for each in the DLC. The graphics are colorful and a little childish styled. They aren't the best, but I kind of like them. The characters look OK and the maps are kind of original.

The game doesn't offer any difficulty. If you win or not will be completely based on your luck, and besides, not like the AI is too smart. They are extremely stupid, especially at the meteor game, in which they always get the same exact amount of points.
The game isn't addictive at all. Not even with another person. I found myself waiting all the time for the games to finish so I could do something else, and most of the time, I didn't finish them because they bore me to death.
The gameplay is OK. There are three minigames which are based on motion controls, and they all work fine, even though they aren't too fun. I think the only fun one is the one where you shoot at cannonballs.

There's no replay value at all, nothing that will keep you coming back unless you like the game way too much, which you won't.
There are 9 different maps, 6 which you have to buy. And the truth is I didn't buy them. For this game I don't think it's worth it to spend another 600 wii points to get all the DLC, and the maps don't change the game at all, anyway. There are four different characters, but all of them do the same, just they have different aspects and voices, and which could have up to two different customs if you buy the DLC. And with only 3 different minigames, the variety is extremely low in this game.

The music is catchy at first, but it gets a bit repetitive. I kind of liked it though. The voice acting is in Japanese, which for some may be a bad thing, but we've seen it in other games and I don't really mind it, even though, in this game it demonstrates the lack of interest from the publishers, which you can also see in the Spanish translation, which is terrible. I didn't check out the French translation, but I bet it's the same. The voice acting is also a little limited, with only a few phrases by the characters.

The game doesn't have story. I think the game could be way better with a story mode, like in Mario Party, even if the story is **** and some unlockables would've been good too.

As a multiplayer game, it's a little more fun, but not much to be honest. The game gets extremely boring, and I think most people'd rather play a real board game.

So in conclusion, just don't get this game, it's not worth it at all.
