Scarface is a freeform action/driving game that puts you in the shoes of Tony Montana.
The game takes on a alternate story from the movie which spans across several missions.
It is available for the Wii, Xbox, PC and the PS2.
Graphics:
The Graphics in Scarface are fairly average.
Nothing will have you popping out of your seat to get a closer look.
There are some nice sun glare and water reflections to be seen, but thats about all.
The character models and textures don't look refined and detailed as you'd expect for a blockbuster titled game.
The game still looks average on max graphics and high resolution, which isn't what a PC gamer demands, and the higher graphical options can cause real problems and lag on moderate PC's.
The cars are modeled nicely, but there are no reflections or outstanding visual effects that stand out.
Gameplay:
The Gameplay for Scarface is what you have come to expect for a freeform action games.
Shoot. Steal. Drive. The formula is essentially the same here, but with a few options that are unique.
You have a mansion that you can customize over time, also you can hire henchmen to guard your businesses, deliver your cars or sell you weapons.
Throughout the game, the basic premise is to have an established cocaine empire.
You will do this in a variety of ways, including regular missions, buying businesses and dealing certain amounts of cocaine to people.
The combat in this game is certainly average or below. Tony can build up rage, then go into a killing frenzy.
It turns the camera into a FPS perspective, which is just plain choppy, and once again does not do the games graphics any justice with small weapon models that just look out of place.
The driving can often be cumbersome and annoying, but for the most part its fine.
Story:
The Story in Scarface is a "What if Tony Lived" Situation.
If you have seen the movie, this game may feel like a recycled story and just feels out of place to the original Scarface world. If not, you may enjoy this game and actually think its a decent story.
The end of the original movie has Tony killed by a shotgun blast to the back.
The start of this game has tony live, but has his mansion and empire taken away from him.
Tony now wants everything back, and the one way he knows best is to take everyone down.
The story spans over 3-4 parts of a decent map, and has you meet such people as bar owners, or gang members.
Audio:
The Audio is definitely one of the only good things about this game.
A range of stars have lent there voices to this game and also a well imitated version of Tony Montana has been put into play. There is a great amount of music that really help set the games attitude, but most of it is current day music, and does not really fit into the time line.
There is a few Audio bugs here and there, but for the most part the audio is enjoyable, however that does not make the game seem fun.
Length:
All in all, Scarface actually isn't a really long game, and a true gamer could finish it in 1-2 sittings.
Theres about 3-4 islands for you to explore, and quite a range of missions but none of it seems to last long.
In Summation, Scarface is only the type of game you should buy if its cheap, or if your a die hard Scarface Fan.
