my japanese coach is an educational game which is all about japanese and you, specifically you learning it, and so far it has been doing just that.
ok lets get this aside, the more you want to learn japanese and the more devoted you are, the better this game is going to be, if you get it thinking "i MIGHT try to learn japanese, but if its too hard i might just give up" you will probably not like this game at all, but if you went in like me and was all "Japanese, i wants to learns it." you will probably find that it is a big help.
i've been playing it for 3 weeks now, about an hour a day or so, i'm also learning from a book called "Japanese for busy people: kana workbook" or something, and on the internets, but mostly i have just been using this game for my learnings, by now i know the hiragana pretty well, i can write it and read it really crappy slow, and i'm beginning to memorize the katakana, the game also taught me lots of words and crap, but be warned, it goes really "japanese" on you if you know what i mean.

some of the ways it teaches things i don't like, when it was teaching me about bases, and verb conjugation i kinda wish it would have explained it in different ways, and gave me some more explanation. although my friend was able to understand pretty easy, i guess maybe with some things it just depends on the purpose.
the presentation is dry like the dioloueu, but i didnt mind that much, the game teaches you through lessons and games, and theres also a phrase book and small dictionary. the games are pretty good and the phrase book has some useful phrases such as "i love you" and "get me a tow truck!"
i'm too tired to write more its 3 AM and for some reason i was compelled to write a long rambling not perticularly helpful review with bad grammar, what the bottem line is i guess is i think this game is good, and if you are good at self-motivating yourself to play repetitive mini games...you will eventually learn japanese, at least thats what i hope will happen.
