This is a review for the Deadly Premonition Director's Cut for the PS3. I also reviewed the original X360 version, and everything I have said previously still stands here. This version of the game fixes a large number of issues in the original game. The controls are now RE4 style, the game's graphics aren't quite as bad thanks to what appears to be an enhanced color palette, and some of the audio mixing issues from the original game have been resolved. That being said, the Director's Cut also breaks quite a few things. The frame-rate is a lot worse, moving the new third person camera is a bit too slow and it often freaks out in narrow spaces, and there are some strange graphical bugs which occasionally happen. This is part and parcel for the course however, because the game wouldn't be Deadly Premonition if there weren't some busted things about it. That being said, the game's incredible music and story are still in tact. Deadly Premonition is not for everyone, but those who are willing to put up with the game's numerous flaws will be rewarded with one of the best overall experiences on the PS3.

The Good:

  • The game's excellent story and music are still in-tact.
  • Unlike anything else out there.
  • Improved controls.
  • Many of the technical issues, including graphical and audio have been resolved.

The Bad:

  • Poor framerate.
  • New graphical issues have been introduced.
  • The new third-person camera is sluggish.
