Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X is a fantastic Rhythm game at it's core; however, this experience is detracted by a lame story mode and smaller than usual catalog of songs. Clocking in at 30 songs, the game feels a little thinner than usual, especially when considering the massive amount of unlockables with over 300 costumes available. If you wish to unlock everything, you will find yourself playing the same songs repeatedly. Unlike in previous games, you do not earn points which you can spend at an in-game shop where you can purchase costumes. Instead, costumes are randomly given to you for completing "Chance Time" in a song. While it is cool to see your Vocaloid transform into their new costume during the song, getting the same costume over and over when you are trying to get a rare costume really sucks, and collectors will find themselves playing a song over and over until they are randomly given the costume they are looking for. Even with all these flaws, the game is a fantastic rhythm game and I still recommend it.
The Good:
- Game is as fun as ever.
- Tons of unlockables, including over 300 costumes.
- Full PS4 Pro support with concert-viewing PSVR mode.
- The songs that are in the game are really good.
The Bad:
- Having to play the same song over and over until the costume you are looking for is randomly given to you.
- Only 30 songs available, with 2 additional songs as DLC.
- One of the lamest stories ever...
