Taking on what worked well in Battlefield 2 and improving on the formula of all other Battlefield games makes Battlefield 2142 one fun, intense game.

The 4 classes in the game might seem limited in theory, but in practice you actually have just as much versatility, if not more when you account for all the games unlocks, than you did in any other Battlefield game.

Map design is the best yet, with a handful of infantry focused maps really standing out in the crowd of 14 standard maps. Fall of Berlin and Camp Gibraltar are great fun, and perfect for Battlefield 2 players that mostly stuck with Karkand as their infantry map of choice.

Vehicle controls, especially the ones that fly, are more intuitive than ever and really take a few tries before you feel confident enough to dogfight on a regular basis. The Hachimoto (available in the Northern Strike Booster Pack) and the L-5 Reisig battlewalker are personal favourites of mine.

Titan Mode is a welcome addition, even if it's still mostly the same Conquest mode that anyone who's played Battlefield before knows well.

The game launched with a few annoying bugs, alt-tabbing will still crash your game, and the single player is mostly pointless, but by patch 1.50 (the latest, and likely last patch) the game runs really well.

And with thousands of other gamers still playing, it's not hard at all to find a decent match.
