Simple fun with a strategic twist

I've had my eye on Flotilla for a while but at I'm not a risk taker so more than ten dollars was beyond my limit, it went on sale for two bucks so I excitedly grabbed it and that was the best two dollars I've ever spent.

The story is simple, you have seven months to live and you're going on an adventure through space with your group of ships or your "Flotilla". Your adventure is different everytime with random events on every planet that are mostly funny stories of how you get items or penguins and deer that just want to take all your ships and leave you to die. It's a game you won't mind playing over and over because of this.

The gameplay is consisting of two things, a point and click through space and multiple planets and the space battles. The battles consist of different types of moves. You can flank to get around the enemy, move and fire at the enemy and just fire at them. You destroy enemy ships by hitting them on the bottom or back of the ship. You decide where you want your ships to go and then the battle starts with the enemy and your ships moving around shooting. It's simple enough but has a strategic edge that few other games capture, you'll start off with just a few ships but through the story you can gain more and many different kinds as well as add-ons like ten percent bottom armor or speed boosts.

The graphics are very interesting, mostly just blocky shapes of ships and some comets around a big empty grid space. It has a feel with the epic battle disaster music of exactly that, an epic battle.

Flotilla is an interesting game and a good brake from intense games with it's relaxing style and fun battles.
