It might have been that I came into Uncharted 2 with incredible hype and expectations or that it just didn't do it for me as much as Infamous, I don't know. I didn't like Uncharted 2 as much as I thought I would but it's definitely not a bad game.
Let's start with my minor grievances. The things that really got to bug me are that the enemies soak up so many bullets sometimes (not many times though) I found myself running out of ammo before I had killed enough enemies to get more guns. That really wasn't a huge deal because most of the time I didn't have trouble finding more ammo because the game basically hands you it all the time. The other problem was sometimes the controls for moving around the enviroment were a little janky and I found myself dyeing more from falling off of ledges from awkward places than by gunfire.
Phew, glad that's out of the way. Lets get to the good things. I'll start by saying that the graphics are AMAZING, best looking snow I've ever seen. The other stuff is pretty good also. Nathans (and all other characters) animations are very smooth and the enviroment look stunning, you'll rarely find a bad looking object, texture, character or anything for that matter. Easily the best graphics I've ever seen, just better than Gears 2.
The gameplay is another great thing, shooting then climbing is the name of the game here with a few setpieces thrown in to mix it up. The shooting handles fine, nothing spectacular but still a solid shooter. The climbing is great, rivaling that of Assassins Creed and Princ of Persia and you'll find yourself doing a lot of it which is in no way a bad thing. The setpieces in this game aren't meant to be the earth shattering things like in Call of Duty but they accomplish more by doing so. The train mission, the building falling over, the train crash, the convoy mission and who could forget all those chase scenes.
The characters and the story here are top notch also, Nathan Drake feels so much like a regualr guy with his great humor but refined heroics, he is easily one of the better characters in video games today. The supporting cast is equally as filled out, the villain Lazaravich...lazeravich, however you say it is very evil. He is believable though, nothing completely insane and crazy about him except his personality.
Overall this is a very good game that gets a lot of things right. This is the game to show that homo that says "Videogames can never be art" with it's fantastic storytelling and insane action.
