MAG may add the 256 player count into the mix but other than the number it doesn't do anything to make itself stand out from the rest of the crowd of first person shooters like Call of Duty or Battlefield.
The graphics in MAG aren't terrible but we've seen better in both bad company and modern warfare games, it's understandable that it may not be great because of the massive battle taking place in the game. I rarely found a bad texture or many glitches and for such a huge game in that aspect it shocked me. Nothing special but it gets the job done.
Gameplay wise again it's fun but never does anything amazing, the shooting is like any other first person shooter. The one thing that does make this game special is the 256 player battles that actually feel huge. I found myself wandering around a lot trying to get to objectives though and for a lot of the time I was trying to find out where the battle was. The game has a command structure of squad leader, platoon leader, then Officer in charge. the squad leader tells his squad what objectives to attack or defend and most of the time I found that the squadmates actually listen to him mostly because of the FRAGO system that rewards you for completing the objectives given by your squad leader. This is a genius idea, if your sqaud leader says "protect teh bunker" every kill you get near the bunker you get extra xp so it makes following orders less of a chore and something you want to do. It backfires though when your leader is having your squad on one side of the map while all the action is happening in another area.
Overall MAG doesn't do many special things to seperate itself but what it does have different makes all the difference. It's a very fun game once you get to the huge battles and is easily reccomendable to any shooter fan.
