I came into Infamous not knowing what to expect, it's been awhile since it's release and I'm just finally getting to it and I"ve gotta say, this is an amazing game with one of the best endings in a long time.
The graphics are good, but nothing shocking, up close they don't hold up extremely well but when in gameplay mode they look fantastic. The frame rate is alright, you won't notice any slow down at all until you get to an area without any buildings and it speeds up all of a sudden, but for all the lightning and explosions going on in the fights it holds up very well. The lightning is probably one of the best looking things in the game, the way it bounces off metal and surges through you and other metal objects just looks awesome all the time. A very nice looking game that doesn't stretch the PS3 to it's limits but still holds strong.
The gameplay in centered around mostly your karma choices making you the Infamous guy (turning black and white with red lightning) or a hero character (clean cut and colorful with blue lightning). I chose to roll with an evil character so most of the review will be in that format. I do like that they outlined whats evil and whats not, instead of leaving you guessing which is which most of the time you know which is which.
Another major part of the gameplay is getting around the city getting to missions and it's a blast. It may start off slow before your grind move and the static thrusters but once you get those the cities are built in such a clever and streamlined way that you'll rarely find a dead patch where you have to run, allowing you to go by train and train track was a great idea also.
The fighting feels good in this game and the mix of third person shooting/sniping and all your AOE moves is fantastic, I love their choice of making the standard lightning blasts with an aiming reticle instead of just hammering a button and they go towards the enemy.
I really can't see the game with any other power besides lightning so that was a good choice, the gameplay is amazing with little faults.
The story in Infamous is possibly one of the coolest in my videogame experience. The crazy twist and the awesome ending have me begging for more just as I thought I was getting bored of the concept.
Overall this is a fantastic amazing brilliant game that I will pray will have a sequel. It's a definite buy for any PS3 owner and not only one of the best PS3 exclusives ever but one of the best games ever.
