Halo: Combat Evolved released in
2001 as an Xbox launch game. This game is by far the best launch game
ever. Gameplay: Excellent gameplay. One of the best FPS games ever,
especially for its time. The AI is intelligent and the game mechanics
itself is just immersive. There are a lot of weapons to choose from
including different kinds of grenades. There are also a number of
vehicles to be driven and to be ridden.
Graphics: Best graphics I've seen from a 2001 game and prior. The designs are outstanding and the game levels are immersive. The levels are well made and are downright beautiful. The graphics can even set the standard for games released in 2005.
Sound: The sound of the enemies is top notch. Along with the sounds of weapons and what not. The most noteable aspect of Halo is the soundtrack. The music in this game is beautiful and well made. I actually have the Halo theme song on my iPod, thats how good it is. It suits the game perfectly and is just great to listen to.
Value: You will be playing this game a number of times through. There is multiplayer of up to four players and there is also co-op. Co-op is great and very fun with a friend. This game is worth its price tag, especially todays price tag on it.
Tilt: Great game. All the hype was right. This game is truly a classic and will go down in history, along with Rudolph. Only negative thing I can think of would be the length of the game. It was somewhat of a short game. Also, there was a certain of species of enemies discovered later in the game, which in my opinion isnt very necesarry. The enemy species does add to the story, but they could have been designed differently because they really make the game look like Half Life.
Closing note: If your one of the two people on this earth that don't own Halo, do yourself a favour and go pick it up right now. You surely won't regret it.
