Hamlet is a decent game for the $5 pricetag it employs. It is a clever spin on a the classic play with a unique and charming art style. Sadly, it fails to establish, or at the very least convey, a consistent logic regarding the solving of puzzles and the use of game mechanics. You can spend a very long time staring at the screen clicking the hero to notice: "yes, I need a crab to walk by so I can clip this mine's chain" only to finally discover that you can click the crab within the thought balloon to make him appear outside of the thought balloon thus solving the screen's puzzle. Worse is that the majority of the interactions in the game elicit animations that make it so you can't click on anything else until it has finished the animation. That is, until you get to the puzzles halfway through the game where you have to chain multiple clicks together to finally get the penguins to eat the fish that the fisherman has lured out of the lake.

The aforementioned problems I had with the game did mar my impression of it overall but could not completely distract from the clever, humorous, and dynamic tale and art style displayed throughout. Aside from my issues with mechanics and puzzle logic there are some very interesting puzzles that are satisfying to solve once the logic is finally established and it makes for a worthy 60 minute gaming experience.
