The Legend of Zelda pretty much created the action/adventure role-playing genre, and it plays awesome. Your are set out on your adventure as a young boy named Link, and are set out to save a princess named Zelda from and evil demon Ganon. You will have to battle your way through many dungeons, explore the world over vast lands and seas. Also search for items scattered throughout the kingdom in search for information and wisdom and power. You will find secret places , and markets, many towns people, as well as a variety of unique and different enemies with different powers and ways to dispose of. You will have to appraoch dungeons too unlock more of a path, and at the end of each dungeon comes a boss, with you having to use your newly acquired items and your brains to figure out how to defeat the boss. The dungeons are assorted with puzzles and many of them, which become very tricky in the end of the game. This game is fairly long, but great fun comes with the package.
The gameplay is an overhead view with 2D graphics with screen placment, and as you move to the edge of the screen it will move over, and the enemies will show up. You don't have to eliminate the enemies to move on, but your health is associated by hearts, and you will gain hearts by doing little quests, and defeating dungeons. You will start out with a sword and just regularily attack, and when your hearts are all full, you will cast an attack that can hit from a distance. Throughout the game you will collect items, such as a bow and arrow which you can then use to kill enemies. The control for this game is very smooth, and has no problems at all, and is easily one of the greatest controlled games of all time.
The Legend of Zelda has set a standard for all games to come, and many games have copied or used the concept or gameplay from this game. I hope everyone who plays video games has played this game, and if not, WHY? Go and track this game down immediatly, and play the game apart. This game is also available on the Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console, so I suggest you download this game if you do not have an NES (Nintendo Entertainment System).
This game gets a perfect score from me, and is easily one of my favorite games of all time, and should be your too.
