Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
How could I give a bad review to a game that allows the user to play a round of Marco Polo on a roof top pool? Yes, that really is possible in the game, and it unlocks a nice big PS3 trophy. Uncharted 2 is to say the least, awesome. There are not many changes from the first game, with the exception of a few user interface options (grenades are now thrown with the R2 button); even the opening music is the same. The high level of challenge is still intact, but this time there are a few more puzzles along the way to solve. Some of the puzzles are played out on huge statues that are very impressive to the eye, but these puzzles are a little too easy to figure out, leaving the hardcore gamer maybe wanting a bit more. The action is ramped up as you will be fighting one on one with a very well armed helicopter. The options for combat are more versatile while stealth is a part of the gameplay, leaving Drake weaponless to take out thugs silently or in straight out brawl mode. Game mechanics are as solid as ever, only a few clipping issues every now and then when taking cover behind water fountains. The visuals are top notch, better than anything else out there for the PS3. The large variety of environments in Uncharted 2 is great thing, keeping Drake out of the jungle so much like in the first game. You will encounter snow, museums, Nepal, and of course jungles. The range of colors and beauty in the environments is very well done. The story is well thought out with characters that the user can care about, and the plot is a classic double cross treasure hunter adventure. The entire game plays out as if you are in a movie, which is very nice and entertaining. There is no need for you to hunt for treasure when all you have to do is find the nearest place that sells games, and buy yourself a copy of Uncharted 2 (if you are smart enough to be a PS3 owner).
