the wind waker for the gamecube has got some very well done cel-shaded graphics, nice smooth controls, some well made and intricate dungeons, loads of side quests to complete, some nice npc's, engaging and compelling storyline.
the things i dont like about it are i really dont like cel-shaded graphics im not a shallow person and judging the game on the look of it. but i really dont like the slightly childish look it presents. i dont everytime you gain a item new or old, it will give you a tutorial on how to use it, which gets really frustrating and you end up rapidly pressing the A button to skip it. the a clash of controls with this game as well, for example if your figthing a creature and he drops his weapon and if you press A button to roll out of the way of their attack if you go over a weapon from previously fallen enemies you end up picking up the weapon and shout as the screen and press B button rapidly to drop it, but by that time you end yup getting hit. and when you rolling in general to travel faster lets say for example on windfall island if you go past someone you end up talking to them and strating a conversation and end up wasting more of your time. and there is a quite a few more of the control clashes it gets really annoying after a short while. nearly all of the heart piece quests you do, are really tedious, which for a game, a piece of entertainment is opposite of the point. i dislike half the side quests for heart peices most of the them are way too intricate and time consuming for just a petty heart piece, and if your any good at zelda you dont really need them in the first place. but i have completed the game anyway, so i have completed nearly all of the content of the game anyway. the only really good dungeons are the forest temple and the temple of the gods i think its called, all of the rest of the dungeons are really bland and uninterresting. the sailing element to the game is really tedious and repetitive after just a few hours, everytime you just wanna change the wind it gives this epic dramatic cutscene its so annoying. i know its all small stuff but because its a big game you end up seeing and reading stuff over and over and over again. and to be honest i do prefer ocarina of time thats such a classic. i prefer the whole horse riding, fields, grass element other than the dreary, bland sailing element in the wind waker. and when you roll out of the way of a incoming attack from a stationary stance it takes a moment or so to get the speed up to move out of the way but by time you end up on the floor dazed out. thats just one more thing to annoy and shake your enjoyment. and the graphics keep it back they could of been so much better with realistic graphics so much more detail. but like i have said before the graphics dont concern me its the whole repetivie, tedious, bland element to the most of the dungeons, heart quests, sailing your boat, the over enfused tutorials to everything you get like an item, or changing of the wind, etc. the only good thing about this game is a couple of the dungeons, some joyful heart piece quests, some beautifully looking islands, the graphics are after all that kinda cute and have a certain appealing charm and vibe to them, a double sided coin basically. but thats it most of the dungeons apart from 2 are tedious, uninspiring, bland, tedious, magic armor quest is to intricate and time consuming, most of the heart piece finding quests are again time consuming and tedious and dont compel to complete them, like the forest haven withering trees quest, and the 50 levels of boring you to death on outset. the sailing thing is so boring and most of the time when i have to travel half the map, i find myself going to the toilet or getting something to eat when you could be doing something so much better within the game. the tutorial everytime you change the direction of the wind or get an item which you have had tons of times before, and the non-skipping of cutscenes. and cause its got loads of item collectiing and sailing to places there a lot of tutorials which waste your time. the bottom line is even though i have completed it before i have really delved in deeper to the game like collecting all hearts, optional item, like some of the bottles, magic armor, hero's charm, arrow, bomb, magic meter upgrades from all the fairies, etc. i have found it not all the enjoyable only time consuming and for the obvious fact of not having anything to play at the time. because of the my second run of this game i have spent so much more time doing other stuff than the main quest you end up racking up your clock time and with that it over time bets really tedious, bland, repetitive, samey. i would not recommend this game to anyone. and your completion time only gets so damn high because of the skipping of tutorials and reading through text and the ever time consuming sailing. a total waste.
