I suppose I'm just not part of the target audience for this game. Make no mistake, there are definitely things to like about it. I like the ability to customize my band's space and the appearance of my staff. The rock challenges are actually pretty cool, and I like being able to rock out as a little Lego dude, but a music game stands or falls on how it plays. Now, there's nothing wrong with the gameplay. It's the same stuff I've sunk many hundreds of hours into in regular Rock Band. No, the problem is its setlist. It's quite possible that there are people out there who really like the songs in here, but I keep wishing I could just take the 3 or 4 that I'm fond of back with me to Rock Band 2. Also, the majority of my DLC is MIA, so I'm stuck playing the same repetitive songs with the same lame guitar parts over and over. Now, I get that the idea of the game is to provide an E10+ rated version of Rock Band for kids and stuff, but surely there's a way to provide this while at the same time allowing access to the full DLC library. Maybe Harmonix could provide a piece of DLC to unlock the rest of the tracks so that the game on the disc could retain it's E10+ rating. Maybe they could have it check whether the account signed in is a child account and enable/disable parts of the setlist as appropriate. I picked up this game with the idea of exporting it to Rock Band 2, but the setlist is weak enough that I'm probably not going to bother, and I'm probably not going to play again, which is too bad, because the little guys have a little bit of charm. Just not enough.
