From the creators of Halo comes this incredible yet forgotten 90s gem. Myth: The Fallen Lords takes the player to a fantasy world where real-time tactics are crucial for victory. The landscape and weather situation can even affect how combat turns out. Rain or snowstorms may increase the likelihood of Molotov duds. Trees can prevent arrows and spears from hitting their target. Even ax-wielding zombies can be hiding underneath the water, just waiting to ambush enemies who dare cross the river!
Complemented by an atmospheric score and a captivating narrator, Myth: The Fallen Lords' story unfolds in a dire time. The Armies of the Dark are laying waste to the World of Men. Only through the efforts of an army known as the Legion can the tide be turned. Victories mean little when the Fallen are still able to cover more and more ground. Only by taking on the prime Fallen Lord, the Leveler, can the World of Myth be saved.
Unfortunately, this game has faded into obscurity over time. That is too bad because I found this game to offer hours upon hours of fun-filled gameplay. The story, the artwork, the level design, sound effects, and even the characters are all of top-notch quality. The closest there has ever been another game like Myth is Warcraft III, and even its story is not as immense or as dark as Myth's. To this day, Myth has and will always be Bungie's crowning achievement in game development. It is essentially their own Lord of the Rings!
