If this game is in your gamefly queue, and you happen to get it instead of something that was higher on the queue, you'll probably not regret spending a weekend getting the points on it.
That's as positive as I can be about X-men Origins: Wolverine. It's certainly better than the peice of shit movie, and better than the licensed game of that movie should be, but lowered expectations aren't the magic ingredient to make a mediocre game a good one.
You play as the perpetually pissed Wolverine in an action game that wants to be as good as God of War/Ninja Gaiden/etc, but isn't, so it covers it up with obscene amounts of gore. But thank Raven for that choice, as without the gore/dismemberment hook, this game would have been completely generic and forgettable. The limbs and blood flying really make you feel the attacks and enemies are rarely pincushions for your blades, going down quickly but not without a little effort. There's some good fights, like the bar brawl with Sabertooth, destroying a grocery store with Juggernaut, and the rooftop fight with 4 giant mutated monsters.
If you're a fan of the comics or movies or whatever this is based on, you might enjoy the story. Myself, I put on podcasts and rarely knew what was going on even when I was paying attention.
Ultimately a forgettable diversion, don't go seeking out X-Men Origins:Wolverine, but if it shows up in your mailbox as part of a subscription service you've already paid for, you'll have a bit of fun with it.
