The best WWE game there is. A great mix of gameplay and story helped it to that title.
The roster selection is pretty good (wish Jeff Hardy was in it though) and the stage designs are detailed and beautiful. The entrances are pretty spot on for each wrestler with great lighting effects for pyro. The superstars themselves are very detailed on the Xbox 360 and actually look more realistic than WWE 2K19 at times.
The use of the right analog stick for grapples was a great addition for the game because it makes the buttons less cluttered with combinations to remember. "Ultimate Control Moves" are fun to use and the "Environmental Hotspots" are also quite entertaining to use. The stamina meter can be annoying for some, but the option to get rid of it is appreciated for those who want a more arcade style of wrestling games.
The season mode is filled to the brim with storylines that feel like your part of a WWE show. The branching storylines offer you the chance to bring out your face (good guy) or heel (bad guy) persona. It's better than the current mode we have on WWE 2K19.
GM Mode is pretty underrated and serves like a franchise mode for a sports game. It's fun to take over a WWE show and run it like a GM. I'm sad that this mode isn't back in the current WWE games.
The creation suite is a little lacking with the lack of an option to add your own custom music and loading screens to preview animations take a long time, but it's still very fun to use.
The soundtrack is a joy to listen to with a majority of it being rock music being used compared to crappy pop and hip-hop music used now. For a wrestling event I see rock music as more of an appropriate choice of music because it pumps you up which the music does.
Overall, I say this is a great installment in the SVR franchise and the last good one before the terrible game that was SVR 2008. If you want a WWE game with great gameplay and stories; this is the game for you!
