How can Sonic have a sword...and still be in a good game?

I see that most people don't like this game. I do.

The game has three settings for gameplay. One that focuses on speed, one that focuses on attacking, and one that's in between. The best setting in my opinion is the one in between. The gameplay is simple. You're Sonic, you slash with a sword, and, sometimes, you help villagers by giving them rings. You slash the sword with the Wii Remote's waggle. That sounds bad in the beginning, but it works out well in the end. You can also use a homing attack, but, unless combined with a slash (which is the best attack to use if you don't like to wait around slashing bad guys (it's not that long of a wait anyhow, though, so that's not a turnoff)), it serves no purpose. You also have a move called the Soul Surge. By pressing B, you can use the energy from the gauge at the bottom of the screen to attack enemies with more strength. Also, if you're in Soul Surge, you can wait until your sword glows to do a stronger slash. It's not the best move in the game to use against normal enemies, but against big ones and against some bosses, it's essential. You can also play as Shadow (playing as Lancelot), Knuckles (playing as Gawain) and Blaze (playing as Percival). Everyone (except for Blaze) plays perfectly well, although I still prefer Sonic.

The story is...meh. It's the sequel to Sonic and the Secret Rings, so, naturally, it takes place in a Storybook. Secret Rings was in the stories of the Arabian Knights, this one is in the stories of the medieval times. King Arthur, for some reason, decided to turn evil...how he's evil, I don't know because all he's shown doing is trying to hunt down Merlina (the Shahra of the game), who summons Sonic to help. The sword is named Caliburn and yes, he is alive. The arguments that Sonic and Caliburn have can be quite funny at times. Without spoiling too much, there's still more to do after the credits. And there is a lot of bonus levels that challenge you. There are also bonus missions that are classic Sonic, from the dashboards to the enemies from Sonic Heroes to the Secret Rings you sometimes get if you beat the level, they're awesome.

The only two gripes I have are the length of the game and the price. While it's not THAT short, it's still pretty short in today's standards. Secret Rings was longer than this, even if you decided to go the shortest route possible. Considering the length, the price should not be what it is (40-50 bucks). It should be around the $30 to $35 region. Other than that, there are no complaints from me.
