Unlike my submissions, I'll keep this review short and to the point: I love this game. From the visuals to the music to the general atmosphere/feel of it, it's all very well done and quite fun.
It's quite apparent the developers had a lot of fun making this, and I often feel works of love have something "special" in them that a game churned out by a team that isn't particularly devoted to their project or is simply interested in getting their paycheck lacks. It's also full of little in-jokes and references that can be quite amusing if you pick up on them or know what they're talking about.
The characters also have a lot of personality and are likeable (at least in my opinion!) and the music is all very well done, and there is quite a bit of it too: many tracks are used only briefly or in one spot. Thankfully there is a sound test mode (with a charming interface) so you can check out the tunes and their titles at your leisure. The choice of control schemes is a nice bonus: you can choose a 1 way, two way, or 8 way shooting system (you can also configure your buttons, but the game only uses three so it isn't really necessary!) The 8 way shooting scheme is the most amusing to me, but to each his own! Unfortunately, one point of weakness is the game's difficulty: It's quite easy, but for most that's probably viewed as a good thing.
To make a long story short: This game holds a special place in my heart, so I "heartily" recommend it to anyone interested. Keep your fryer warm!
