This game feels like it should have been released in 2005 rather than 2008 seeing as how it hasn't evolved since the last game what so ever and still has akward controls which get on your nerves while playing the PC version. I find using the squad commands very trickey because quite often I'll want them to attack and yet when I click the order I send them to run over there instead which gets annoying. I also hate how they keep shouting at me and it's like just shut the fuck up I don't need to hear your shit a million times it's becoming annoying. I've found the whole cover system to0 be very annoying because it brings you into third person, when it's a FPS so it should keep you in first person. Also you can't use Iron Sights while in cover which is very odd so you find yourself using the cover system to regen health and then coming out of cover to aim and kill which is annoying. I find the cover to not work that well like I hate how you feel like you're stuck to a wall and quite often you wont be able to look out and fire from palces you'd expect.
The AI is dumb in the game the enemy will quite often just be standing there waiting for you to kill them. There seems to be pathing issues with the AI too and they quite often run around in circles like they're confused and stutter about where they want to go. Also the friendly AI is dumb too running straight into fire just because you ordered them too.... I wish they had abit of common sense about there and I hate how when I'm taking cover they often get in the way and make it so I can't move.
The Audio in the game is horrible and there seems to be a real lacking of ambient noise and music. It just feels very lifeless and boring and not what you'd expect to hear when you're in a battlefield, it sounds more like you're at home. I also hate how the animations and facial animations don't really match the situation and it feels all lifeless and just really crap. The face detail is terrible too and thats because it's Unreal Engine 3 which is such a terrible engine and the game just has all the quirks of the engine still there annoying me like no AA in the menu's and that very fake stiff look which suits Gears of War but not this game.
The graphics often just look so subpar with some bad textures which arnt even bump mapped and like I said the character models. Alot of the time it feels like I'm playing Battlefield Heroes rather than a realistic shooter because it can look very cartoony at times. Like I said the animations are all horrible and just visually the game looks very fake and weird.
So really with bad controls, crap graphics, bad performances from the characters and a story that's a cheesy typical WW2 one thats been overdone. Band of Brothers is not a game I'd recommend and will want you wishing they'd burn all WW2 shooters in a big pit.
Watch Band of Brothers instead it'll give you a much better WW2 experience.
