So I couldn't wait but to find out what happens between Warcraft 3 and World of Warcraft, so I played this game all through the day and finally completing it just now and I have to say it rounded up the story well. There are some things I don't understand still but that isn't Warcraft 3's fault but just me having to play WOW to see what happened. It makes me wonder though how they'll ever make a Warcraft 4 seeing as they can't do the present or it would conflict with WOW. I'm going to keep this review short and sweet however because it is basically just Warcraft 3 but with a new story.
The Frozen throne improves on the original with less annoying gameplay types and building more upon side quests and the RPG part of the game. I also loved the bonus levels which build even further on the RPG style and play out more like a action RPG that a RTS. They've improved the graphics and whats great is the game never looks old because of the art style... though I wish it wasn't so cartoony. The voice acting and the music in the game is great and while the script writing isn't esactly the best, it does do the job for a game storyline and is still better than most of the crappy movies of today. I have still yet to play the multiplayer but like I said in my review of Warcraft 3 I really just can't be bothered to play with people who will kick my arse, though I'm sure it's greta for fans of multiplayer RTS games because it does have the most people playing on Xfire.
What I found odd was when I tried WOW in 2004 I thought the Horde was Evil and the Alliance were good. In Warcraft 3 it showed me that isn't the case but in The Frozen Throne for some reason it made me hate the Alliance and side with the Horde which I never felt like doing before.Theres just something about the alliance that seems mean in this one but the Horde feels like they just want to survive where the Alliance try to attack them.
Don't ever play The Frozen throne before WC3 because of the storyline but defo pick it up if after you complete WC3, the storyline interests you then The Frozen Throne wont disappoint and I stand by saying it's the best story I've ever experienced in an RTS. I only wish however they made a Warcraft RPG instead of a mmorpg because a great single player or even coop experience with great cutscenes would have been sooo much better for the story than a mmorpg where you have to go looking for the story.
Just a great expansion! However the things that bothered me about Warcraft 3 still exist here, though thats down to the dislike of some standard features of the RTS genre.
