Keep in mind this is just a remake of Flatout 2 rather than its own thing. It doesn't really matter these days though, as it turned out to be the best Flatout game, to the point where the others aren't really worth your time anymore. It's good, silly, over-the-top fun, and the environmental destruction is still satisfying and unique. I like how the game embraces its ridiculousness in interesting ways... No other racing game has allowed me to catapult the driver through the windshield and direct him through the air towards some giant bowling pins that I can hit to score points.
The main criticism I have is that the wild physics can interfere with the gameplay, because it's all quite unpredictable, and this is especially noticeable when you're doing the time-trials that require you to refine your route through a track in order to improve your time. You can do almost the exact same actions but the slightest difference can completely ruin your run, because the physics just react in unexpected ways. This is noticeable in all kinds of races really, and if you're someone who values solid weight to the cars and precision in your driving, then the game might infuriate you, because it has none of that. Even for those who don't care much about those things (like me), the cars are still too floaty, there's too much trial-and-error, and I don't like retrying the races repetitively.
It's a good game though. Fuck GFWL, obviously, but anyone can circumvent that with an easy fix now. Check PCGamingWiki. It just wont allow you to play multiplayer, which I personally don't care about.
