The cars all feel exactly the same to control, unsatisfying with stiff cornering being a constant issue. The game feels shallow and has almost no sense of progression. You technically "work your way up", but there's no story, and no buying or tuning. You just get shunted from one race to another and are given new random vehicles to try out. It all feels a little pointless. The online elements are very pervasive for those of us who don't care about those things, because it constantly tries to push them on you.
The game feels in love with itself, because it takes minutes from launching the game to actually get into a race due to unskippable intro videos and flashy menu transitions. Before and after races you'll be greeted by more unskippable crap, and sometimes during a race too when the camera wants to show things off. It grinds the pace to a halt and I hate this more than words can describe. The first hour of the game in particular is really tortuous, because it constantly forces cutscenes on you that describe extremely basic gameplay mechanics in painful detail like it thinks you're a child.
