Most of the bugs have been fixed now so the game is much more stable and playable, but that doesn't change the fact that it's shallow and often soulless. The main quest becomes repetitive, and the MMO-style side quests are even worse. The characters are uninteresting (including the player character, who doesn't hold a candle to Shepard), and the corny dialogue doesn't help matters. The new alien races are the least interesting and most generic of all. There's a lot of padding designed to slow your progress, like walking around scanning hieroglyphics, and then playing Sudoku with them (really). The menu screens, which you'll navigate a lot, are convoluted and overwhelming, and the game doesn't even try to ease you into them. Even quest markers on the HUD are confusing, which is weird, because it seems like it would be one of the easiest things to get right.
It's Dragon Age Inquisition in space. A mile wide and an inch deep. I got bored of the game about 6 hours into it, and I'm speaking as a Mass Effect fan. At least I didn't go into it with high expectations, which saved my heart from breaking this time.
