I don't know how, or why, but the controls are much more loose and awkward than they were in either Legend or Anniversary. Lara's animations just can't keep up with your inputs, so she'll get stuck on nothingness, magically warp to the next position, and her limbs will bend like a contortionist. Platforming is very sticky and inaccurate, and the camera is worse than either of the previous two games. So with all these things combined, you can expect to fall to your death a lot, for reasons that aren't really your fault. No aspect of the way this game controls feels refined or polished, just buggy and messy. The presentation is nice apart from Lara's animations, but the level design really lacks visual cues and has too many areas in the same levels that look almost identical.
It's slower-paced than Legend, with much more exploration (but not as much as Anniversary) and has more interesting locations. Puzzles are much better than Legend too. Zip and Alistair aren't constantly nattering in your ear either, which allows the game to give you a feeling of isolation sometimes. I'd definitely rate it above Legend for these reasons, but I couldn't find any enjoyment from the platforming in this one, and the combat is just as shitty as ever due to the bad controls and bulletsponge enemies. So yeah, disappointing, especially after playing Anniversary which I recommend.
