There are moments in Splinter Cell that make you feel like a well-trained super spy. Thinking on your feet to overcome a deadly situation, planning out and executing a complicated plan involving subterfugey gadgets and silently eliminating enemy combatants from the (beautiful) shadows are all common occurrences in this game, and they really are a lot of fun to experience. Other moments have you fighting will occasionally cumbersome controls, repeating certain sequences that devolve into little more than trial and error and gritting your teeth through several unwelcome segments of forced combat. The good, however, far outweighs the bad in Splinter Cell, so thankfully the game as a whole is a tense, exciting and intelligent spy thriller.
