Was Crash bandicoot always this hard?

I haven't played the original Crash games on the Original PlayStation (also on ps3), I always wanted to try them out at some point. But Activsion released the 3 games on the ps4 Remastered with crisp lush graphics and looked fun to play. So I bought a ps4 and one of my first games on the system was Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy so I can finally experience Crash bandicoot, to see what Naughty dog's games are really about. Crash bandicoot 1 received the most improvement since the sequels were much more improved, Crash bandicoot 1 has some very linear levels, you jog, jump, and spin and they control pretty well. The levels will test your reflexes and skill and it does not take long for things to get difficult. It goes from normal to hard to very hard. The original Crash bandicoot is the most difficult in the trilogy and has to be one of the most linear and eh games iv played on the ps4. Crash bandicoot 2 is more of an improvement and more accessible than the original, it has more moves, more replay value, and better designed levels, Crash bandicoot 2 is ok it's fine, but not really my interest. Crash bandicoot 3 is even more of an improvement, it's more... gimmicky but in the positive way, more moves to unlock, even better levels, and overall, a great game. Crash bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy (as I'm starting as a noob of the Crash games) is a good Remaster but I don't think I can recommend it to people who haven't experienced the Original games, they might find if too difficult, like Sonic mania this game feels like it was made for fans and fans only, you can experience the Original Crash games on the PlayStation 1, 2, 3 if interested in the series at all.
