I'll preface this by saying that I don't like the modern theme for First Person Shooters. Give me an eight foot tall alien, and I'm happy as a pig in shit. I couldn't help but like this game, though. The whole thing is smooth, just damn smooth. It's set pieces are slick, and I was especially impressed when the game forced you to push through an area without slowing down too much. These sections would always have an impressive ending: Jumping on a rope ladder hanging down from a helicopter, circling back around the same area you just left to mow enemies down with an extra high caliber weapon, getting blown up in space, running down an enemy in an inflatable boat. The game punctuates itself with these frequently. Even for a person like me, one with no interest in modern weapons, each gun had a solid, unique feel. The game was damn good, and apparently it means something to the online community. Not my kind of game, but damn good.
