Playstation Home has been in the making for many years, this is exaggerating but I'm trying to convey my point on how long Playstation needed for this development. Playstation announced Home in 2007 and explained how it would change Playstation and be ready for next year. I'm afraid to say but it hasn't fulfilled any of these two points in a major way.
Playstation Home was told be ready for 2008 in the year's first quarter. Many tedious delays delayed it until the second quarter, then the third quarter and finally fourth where the beta came in. Everyone thought this might be Playstation's chance to show off its magic. Maybe with delays it must be getting hugely better. The truth is that we cannot tell if got better but if it did, it must have been horrendous before.
Playstation Home is notably worth playing but only just to get that little nostalgia of satisfaction. The download takes about five to six minutes which isn't devastating but as you are ready to sign it breaks. The Home could be explained in one word "Broken" in the sense it doesn't let you sign in because of full servers. This aggrieved most people after downloading the experience they were longing for and shattered by full severs. While the servers have been improved it's just the fact hardly anyone uses Home so all the money put into better servers, were too wasted.
If somehow you signed in first when the beta came out, I congratulate you for you got the package which makes Home good. When you first come into Home you have 16 profiles all of which are spread across all your users. One user could use 13 and the other two could use one and two. But you wouldn't want to create any more than two or three at most for Home. You don't have as much choice as your Avatar in NXE in fashion sense but the characters do look pretty decent in graphics wise. You could go for some jeans and a t shirt or shorts and a vest. It's your call. Either way once you're finished, you save your character and move onto your apartment. When you see it you immediately think of second life possibly. You wonder whether this is just a rip off of one of those virtual life games where as Nintendo Wii and Xbox avatars feel fresh and trendy. The apartment is pretty basic and furniture can be moved round to your liking. Unfortunately to get mansions or maybe a small house it costs money. From pennies to pounds, you could be wasting money just like virtual life games. You can even buy Emporio Armani designer wear or some neat Levi Jeans. But all will cost you.
After finishing touches on your apartment and making sure on your fashion statement. You can use you PSP style menu to travel to six locations. Bowling alleys for bowling with friends and snooker tables with two players or maybe even an arcade if you're feeling lonely. For the most part they'll all be full so getting onto one of these forms of entertainment will have to be fought for with other groups of friends. Next is the shopping mall where you waste all your Playstation Store money on ridiculous items such as objects for your apartment and maybe even a house if you were consider buying something. You can buy designer wear or mansions. The choice is limited as far as categories go, Clothes cost £0.59 in most areas, Objects like Sofas or Televisions cost £0.89 and Houses can range from £2.99 to Pete knows what. Another area features the cinema where you can watch films and trailers. Speaking of films, no they're not free and no there are none at the moment. All you can see are trailers of the ridiculous Patapon and other games which you could easily download via Playstation Store. Then you move onto the Park where gatherings are met and you can socialise via keyboard chat or controller chat and maybe voice chat. Conversations are not confidential and large obvious speech bubbles are raised above you. Obviously you can speak anywhere but apparently by Sony this is the best place for meetings. Other locations feature rooms for different Playstation Exclusive games like Uncharted and Warhawk which each have themes based on the game. There's not much to do in there either, just to present the games in a way of advertising.There are a few more locations but all offer the same things essentially.
On the whole Playstation Home is worth the download and worth playing for the hour or two you might get joy of playing. What makes Playstation Home mostly good is that it shows the time and effort put into it but seamlessly doesn't give us the right impression. There's just the fact that it's not as good as it could have been. But the point is that the main package is all completely free. So why not download this package? Download this today!
