Pure fun. That's the short story.
GT5 has been a long time coming - was the wait worth it? Boy, was it ever. It has been a great year for games, no matter which type of gamer you are, but it's painfully obvious that one game stands head and shoulders above all else. That's GT5.
I'm not going to be too long winded about it. There are problems with the game: the UI is, to some, cumbersome, the graphics may be a bit inconsistent at times, some might even critique the music in the game. That's all completely trivial. The fact of the matter is, I can drive for hours upon hours, switching from car to car, and from track to track, chasing, what seems to be, an endless torrent of challenges of multiple sorts... and I'll do it all with a smile on my face.
Gran Turismo is, and has always been, the pinnacle of videogaming. And that pinnacle is now a tad bit higher than it was.
