Battlefield 1 Beta. It's not great.

You know things that just never change?

There is always going to be shitty politicians, war, Call of Duty and EA making games that use the same 4 core concepts copy and pasted over and over again.

Today I review a game with the Battlefield 1 beta. Is it cool or is it cancer.

Now before the beta had even released, the hype had reached fever pitch by adult babies who finally questioned whether Call of Duty’s quality is driving itself into the ground like a fucking tent peg.

The trailers for the new battlefield and call of duty games released about the same time and it was clear that the battle of the trailers was won, in inverted commas, by battlefield.

Facebook and message board comments were littered by over excitable cunts saying “This is how you do it” “Battlefield for the win! Etc etc and in no time, the hype train had already boarded and was speeding towards its first station, disappointment-ville. Cos I don’t need to tell you what happens when things get over hyped. (Cough no man’s sky cough cough.)

Within the first 10 minutes of playing, it was clear that it’s almost a remask of Battlefront using classic battlefield elements. But thankfully they got rid of the card system that battlefront introduced.

This game can basically be summarised is one word, let’s act it out.

“Hey Jeff, what’s new with Battlefront 1, you know, is it worth getting”

“It’s horses, horses mainly, that’s what you get, horses”

“Yeah but what’s in--”

“Horses, mate, don’t even, it’s horses”

Is that the only new feature they could come up with? Fucking horses? They basically function as a slightly slower car. Yeah, they kind of fit in with the setting and I can see why they’re there but that’s the only new thing...oh yeah, that and multiple seater planes. Woop te fucking doo.

Seriously now, the game stands out in modern and future warfare dominated industry but that’s basically where it finishes. I enjoyed the game because the setting and weapons are slightly different from anything that triple-A developers produce now days. But, if you wanted your WW1 and 2 thirst to be quenched then just get Red Orchestre or Verdun.

The game is Battlefield 4 in a different setting, that’s it.

But let’s get onto the main thing people are fucked off with, the pricing.

EA could have had a serious winner here and they potentially fucked it all up.Do you want the standard game with no features that’ll be £50 straight up. Oh you want some maps that should have been in the game and skins? That’ll be £104 then please. Yeah they should just write “fuck off” in the pricing box.

EA are more out of touch with gamers that in the Royal Family decided decided they’re going to make Five Nights at Freddie’s 12.

In fact, do you remember the BF: Bad company 2 expansion, Battlefield Vietnam? It’s pretty much the same as that.

I feel this game tricks me into liking it. All the concepts of a good Battlefield game are there, it just feels slightly lacking in something that I can’t put my finger on, which is really fucking helpful for a review. Maybe it’s the fact that they’re going to charge £50 minimum for basically a multiplayer game. And this is on origin by the way, I don’t know how they get away with it. Oh yeah I do, they just don’t give a fuck.
