As much as I really liked Shank to begin with. The longer I played the game the more I felt like this 5-7 level game was being needless extended for the myth of a game has to be "this long." Rather than coming to a natural end. I loved the graphically style, the voice acting, and the whole Tarintino-effect that the game was going for.
But this effect can only take you so far before things like character skins and gameplay begin to get in your way. Basically, what we get is by 2/3 of the way through the game, you are still seeing the same enemies, not even skinned differently. The player is also going through the same motions. The platforming, fighting, platforming, and then boss model is hardly broken up at all. As fun as this formula is for the first little bit of the game, it gets very tedious as the game moves on. Also, the worst part of Shank is that many times when you die near a boss battle you must skip through the boss cinematics to get back into the boss fight. I know this is a minor thing, but the more it happens the more annoying it gets.

Shank gives the player tons of weapons to fight through the game. Maybe too many. I would have liked to see the samurai sword earlier and maybe dropped the chains completely. Also, compared to the other guns in the game, the UZIs are useless. As much as I liked playing with them for a few minutes over the course of levels, they are not as good as the dual pistols and don't have any of the power of the shotguns.
The last two levels of the game made me delete this game and never want to play it again. The second to the last level has no ACTUAL BOSS and even though I was aware of how to beat the final boss; the actual act of doing so was so dramatically annoying that couldn't do it. I loved the rest of the game, but it just ended terribly. A+ for gameplay, A+ for art style, and D+ for design. Sorry guys.
