As a fan of Air/Ace combat, I was looking forward to playing H.A.W.X
for the 360. Once I popped in my game I then turned my attention to
the Exclusive Content section in the menu. After unlocking a free
plane from tying my gamertag to ubisoft, the game automatically
reboots. So the game freezes right before the game prompts me to
choose where to save my game. So I'm like ok I turn off my 360 and try
again, it freezes again. So I say forget it, I'll just skip the free
planes.
I start the campaign on easy. I then notice the game
is set to inverted controls. which means when I press down I go and
vice versa. So I press up and I go up. Is it just me or when I turn
normal controls on, it's inverted. So I make sure the controls are
normal. After backing up a few helpless squads on the ground in the
first level I find the controls for this game are the challenging part,
not the enemy. Also targeting is a breeze as all I have to do is wait
for a beep and a red reticle to appear. my first impressions of this
game wasnt what I thought it was going to be. I wasnt having fun. the
graphics are pretty and the models of the planes are nice.
So
I try going online in matchmaking. The online is nice but I quicky got
bored and frustrated with the controls yet again. Sure I got a few
kills but again I wasnt having fun. I've yet to ry coop so, I guess
my review is somewhat incomplete. Also this is by no means a flight sim, it's arcade and even with the assistance mode off, the camera is very wobbley. This game is at best a rental.
