4 1/2 out of 5 stars
Its terrifyingly violent, deliciously gory, and ultimately worth the 9-12 hours (pending on one's skill level-took me ten hours on normal) spent dismembering former human limbs.
the good-
*scerenely beautiful-lighting, shadowing, and textures are pitched wonderfully.
*large scale memorable boss fights that will give you chills when you see them (especially when the last boss fight comes)
*story draws you in and never lets up
*isolates you almost immediatley, triggering the heavy survival instinct, which leads to greater immersion in the story and its characters.
*the ending scene is freaky, and will leave you begging for Dead Space 2
*twists in the story keep you interested, and looking forward to any other plot twists
*Dismemberment system is innovative and fresh to put to use.
*necromorphs are terrifyingly real, especially the slow moving one's which are scarier to run away from.
the bad-
*Occasionally my stasis literally went through a fast-moving necromorph, and nothing happend, in which case I died in a gruesome way.
*one twist I kind of saw coming
*the game will (mostly towards the end) pile up one too many enemies on you, in which its my luck that they only drop credits that I cant use right now, and it can be frustrating, to constantly run out of ammo, and health, with an seemingly never-ending onsluaght of enemies in front of you.
