Cole McGrath is the key protagonist in this game and in case you haven't noticed, he has the power of electricity literally at his fingertips. InFamous is an edgy, action game that brings creativity to the table. Though it is in need of a better story and less glitches, it was one shock away from being perfect.
Sound
The game doesn't actually have a real soundtrack. It does however have a varied array of symphonies depending on what's happening in the game. If you're in the heat of battle the sound, of course, will be quick and edgy while just exploring the city will leave the sound low and relaxed. Of course, you didn't buy the game to hear about the sound so let's move to presentation.Presentation
InFamous is a PS3 game, and I'm not a PS3 person, but I must admit that this game looks gorgeous. Even the animations from NPC's look just as good as Cole himself. There are certain times in the game where I had to pause it and think about how they did it. One particular situation was in the sewers. Firstly, Cole produces a constant flow of electricity to serve as his personal flashlight. That in itself looks good. Then when he finds the conductor, he hops into it and jump starts the whole thing. during this process there's electricity everywhere and sparks are flying this way and that. Even when it comes down to little subtlety's like his clothes, they change depending on weather you're good or bad. That brings us to the gameplay.Gameplay
Morals play a big part in this game. In fact, it's so big that you will have to play the game twice to get through all the info. Once as a hero and once infamous. Not only do you have to make a lot of choices, your choices will also effect how you look and how people will look at you. If your a saint, your electricity will be blue and your chin chiseled. In addition, the people of the world cheer when they see you, whereas they would run away should you choose to be evil. Another strong point of InFamous is the fact that Cole can climb virtually anything. Seriously, he's like Altair with down-syndrome. It comes in handy when your trying to get a vantage point or escape from trouble down below.
Overall
I won't say this game is a must buy because you can definitely live without InFamous (or all games for that matter). I don't have a Playstation 3 anyway. I based this review off of my friends game. Wtih that in mind, you should try to fit this game into your schedule. Despite a few glitches and an annoying amount of enemies, my appeal to this game was definitely shocking (pun intended).
